Training of candidates for local administration elections in Homs

The Nation Building Movement organized, within the framework of the empowerment path, a training workshop for a number of candidates for the local administration elections in Homs Governorate.

The training in the workshop held on September 5, 2021 was divided into a group of pillars, most notably a dialogue on the role of local councils in the next phase and their relationship with the people in light of reconstruction and reconciliations. And how local administration will be a means for people to participate in political life, achieve democracy, and apply the principle of secularism.

The second part of the training included talking about Local Administration Law No. 107, the concept of local development, and how to build a development discourse according to a reading of the local needs of each region. After that, the training moved to group work (Homs Governorate Council, Homs City, other administrative units) to come up with a vision for the electoral program based on a reading of the reality of the regions, development needs, and citizens’ concerns in light of the vision and direction of the Syrian Social Nationalist Party.

It is worth noting that this workshop comes within the activities of the “Your Role” campaign to raise awareness and encourage the role of civil society in local administration elections, especially in training and empowering cadres of political parties participating in the elections.
